Mental Health and Wellbeing at Work

For employers, managers and team leaders

"Employers bear the primary responsibility for establishing the conditions and practices in the workplace which minimise the likelihood of people being made ill by their jobs.......there is also a compelling case for organisations of all sectors and sizes ....to embed health and well-being at their heart and to create an empowering and rewarding work environment for all employees." Dame Carol Black. ‘Review of the Health of Britain's Working Age Population’

Research shows that stress and poor mental health is now the number one cause of staff absence and sick leave

Organisations that genuinely promote wellbeing and good mental health and support staff with mental health problems are more likely to create conditions that allow for everyone to feel valued and supported. In the short term, stress can overtake your mind and prevent you from thinking clearly and doing things well. Long term, stress can lead to mental health issues - anxiety and panic attacks for example - and burnout
